This is a pencil with the figure of Dick Tracy hanging on it. It was a hot item for abut fifteen minutes around the time the Dick Tracy movie was in the theaters.  I scanned it directly by just laying it on the scanner.  Later I increased the contrast.  You can see a pronounced 3-D effect at the top, but the bottom of the pencil seems to be flat.  It looked rounder before I fooled with t;he contrast, but I like it this way.  The transition from 3-D to 2-D seems fitting for a cartoon figure.
